What I was feeling when I created this piece

Lately it feels like I’ve been swimming upstream. Everything’s thick and foggy and I can’t seem to get the flow goin again.

As someone who teaches “downstream swimming” for a living, this is obviously frustrating.
Dispute the discomfort, I know this is teaching me to dig deeper and dive further to find that space of authentic flow and alignment.

Sometimes the best thing is to let go of work isn’t working. Release.

What makes this piece unique

Oddly enough, I created this entire piece in front of an audience — actually two separate audiences. The first was while I was do a live painting demonstration at a restaurant in April — that’s where I created the pink abstract background.

A few months later, in July, I was doing some live painting at my art booth for an art night event. I had planning to paint the next layers, but when I got everything set up I realized I had everything — paint pens, markers, crayons, brushes — everything except the paint! I was forced to get creative, so I finished the piece with what I had — no actual paint or brushes were used beyond the background.

Needless to say, the piece itself was begging for the title I gave it. “Swimming Upstream.” It’s just one of those days…

Lastly, everything is energy. I intentionally pour love and positive, sparkling energy into all of my paintings. It is my hope that this painting will hold that energy and share it with you when you most need it. It’s meant to raise your vibration and help you strengthen your own intuition.
