Btw – if this totally doesn’t sound like you at all, you may want to review the other results to see which Authenticity does sound like you.  We’re all complex individuals and so it is normal to identify with more than just one ailment.

The #1 way this ailment sabotages your sparkling authenticity is by….

Holding you back from going after things you truly feel passionate about. You are paralyzed by your fear of failure and that’s keeping you from putting out some really awesome ideas, services and products that could truly make the world a better place. Not to mention, making you an even more joyful and enthusiastic person.

Chronically living with this ailment can cause:

Just like any physical, medical ailment, when we leave things unchecked for too long, they can wreak havoc on our system.  I am not a professional medical doctor, and this is not professional medical advice (always seek your health care professional), but modern science proves that the mind, body and spirit are all connected. That means ignoring your truth (your authenticity) for long periods of time can actually cause you physical harm.

Put bluntly: your perfectionist tendencies are hurting you – mentally, emotionally and physically.

If left unchecked, this ailment may cause any or all of the following:

  • Procrastination

  • Discontentment

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Dis-ease

  • Illness

  • Sleeplessness

  • Digestion issues

I know that was dark, but we had to go there.  I'm no longer sitting by and letting people believe that their hopes and dreams don’t affect their physical health and reality.  If you want to manifest your dream life, you have to first become aware of what’s keeping you from it.

Perhaps now you can start to see how healing this ailment could literally change your life; allowing you to live your fullest, most authentic life.

Imagine…

..finishing projects and feeling at peace with the end result!

…feeling that your work is good enough and so are you!

…finally feeling confident enough to go after that wild dream of yours, even if it means potentially making a mistake or failing!

If this is something you’d like to experience more of, here is a simple art healing exercise you can try out:

  1. Step back and look at the big picture.

  2. Give yourself a reality check.

  3. Try scribbling. For this exercise you’ll need a piece of paper, a black sharpie or marker and whatever colored pencils or crayons you have on hand.

    1. Place the sharpie or marker in your non-dominant hand.

    2. Set a timer for one-minute.

    3. With eyes closed, let your hand wander aimlessly around the page. Notice what sensations arise as you move the marker left and right, in circles, or lines or zig-zags – whatever feels interesting.  Be mindful to not “try” and produce anything. Let this be an exercise in letting go, trusting yourself, and allowing “mistakes” and “experimentation” to take place.

    4. When the timer finishes, pick up your sharpie.  Take a few steps back and observe your work. What do you see? Imagine you are looking at clouds, trying to find images, faces, symbols, shapes – anything you can find.

    5. Use your colored pencils and pens to bring this shape or image to life.  For example: if you see a clown, you may want to color in orange hair, a red nose and purple lips.  Whatever you see is wonderful. Practice releasing judgment and letting this simply be fun. We aren’t making pretty art. We are practicing being loose, authentic and mistake-full!

    6. If you don't see anything in particular, simply color inside the loops and shapes your scribbles made.  Let yourself relax as you mindlessly engage with pencil and paper.
